Abbey came to us when she was 6 months old. My
nephew had two dogs at the time, living in an apartment that did not
allow any dogs, let alone two! Since Abbey was the biggest (the
other being some kind of poodle-y thing) They decided she had to
go. They tried for weeks to find her a new home with no
luck. Time was running out for them at the apartment. They
asked if she could stay with us until they could find someone. I was
very reluctant since we already had Shannon and Shannon was a very
difficult dog. I did not think she would accept Abbey but she did
and they were great 'sisters'.
In 2002 we found a couple of lumps which turned out to
be mast cell tumors. Considering her age at the time, the Vet suggested that we not do
surgery on her but to just keep her comfortable. Loving &
spoiling was my favorite thing to do for her, always remembering to
bring treats home when we would go out to dinner...and she knew it! and
would be waiting when we came home for her goodies.
The day after Christmas 2005 was a very sad day for all
of us, when Abbey went to 'doggie heaven'.
